The link above is the IRS's acquisition request for 60 Remington 870 police shotguns (all tricked out, and by my estimation would go for $1200 apiece on the market). As you can see the shotguns are going to "Investigative Units" within the IRS.
Why do they need them? The Federal Protective Service already provides security for the IRS building. And, if my memory serves me right, tax violations are handled by the Justice Department at the IRS' bidding. So why does the IRS need 60 sawed off shotguns?
My assessment of this purchase is: Shotguns are more effective and destructive at close ranges than handguns and are used to great effect in Close Quarters Combat (CQB) in urban operations, say clearing rooms or fighting "door to door". Home defense is what we regular folk think a shotgun is good for, but I do not believe "defense" is the application the IRS has in mind.
The telling fact here: the IRS is ordering shotguns with 14-inch barrels, something you, the regular everyday citizen of this once-great country cannot own because of the Federal Firearms Act of 1968. We the People are restricted to barrel lengths of 18 inches or longer. The United States Government (USG) does not want you to own a shotgun with a 14 inch barrel because its makes the shotgun easier to wield in homes, as they become as “handy” as handguns. Of course the plan for the IRS shotguns is to be used in homes, but not the homes of the “investigative units”, and not for defense. They’ll be used in your homes, and not you, but against you, should you not account for, and report, every penny properly that has crossed your path in the previous year. And even if they are never used against We the People, the “intimidation effect” has been served well enough.
You don't think is a big deal? Then please read further. The tragic story that is now a part of the history of our Republic, should help you understand why this is important to you right here, right now.
Some of you may remember "Ruby Ridge". If not, here's the skinny. In the late summer of 1992, three hundred federal agents in camo, face paint and all, fielding weapons of war, descended upon the family home of Randy and Vicki Weaver in response to a federal snitch's accusation that Randy sawed off his shotgun to 17.75 inches. Because of that terrible crime against the federal government, they first shot the family dog, a male golden retriever named Striker, who ran down the valley to see what was going on. The Weaver's 14 year old boy, Samuel, who was following Striker with a rifle (hoping the dog was scaring up some meat); instead found himself involved in a firefight with federal agents.
Sam’s arm was shot off (again Samuel was a 14 YEAR OLD BOY), then he was shot in the back...murdered, while running back home to his Mom and Dad. A family friend, Kevin Harris, was also shot, I believe in the arm, but made it back to the house. Samuel was shot in the back. Please take the time to ponder that. To put this in perspective, Soldiers of our once great Republic have been wrongly court-martialed for shooting terrorist, enemy combatants, in the back during major fire fights. Those terrorist weren’t running home to Mom, they were running to get a better position of which to kill our Soldiers from. Again, Samuel was a 14 year old AMERICAN boy on American soil.
Vicki Weaver, with her baby on her hip, was then shot in the face by a fed sniper, Lon Horiuchi, while holding the door open for Kevin. Randy had to clean Vicki's brain matter off his crying baby. VICKI WAS THE NURSING MOTHER OF THEIR BABY, Elisheba. Vicky was not carrying a firearm, she was carrying her baby. Randy was later shot under the armpit (by Lon) as he was checking on his son's body in the woodshed.
As a reminder, all of this federal power was brought to bear on the Weaver family because of an ATF violation of a "law" that says a citizen of this country cannot own a shotgun that has a barrel less than 18-inches. The snitch, Frank Kumnick, was "employed" by the ATF for over three years, and during that entire time was trying to "get something" on Randy. He repeatedly asked Randy to saw off a shotgun for him. Finally, because he needed the money, Randy gave in and sawed Kumnick’s shotgun a 1/4-inch shorter than the legal limit.
Were Justice, and Lady Liberty, served when federal government agents killed Randy's only son, murdered the love of his life and the mother of his children, shot his friend, and shot him and the family golden retriever....all over 1/4-inch of metal?
Of course Justice was not served!
Now consider the fact that federal agents can own shotguns with barrels of any length. This IRS purchase request is for police shotguns with 14-inch barrels...a whole FOUR inches shorter than the length We the People can own "legally"....a whole three and three quarters of an inch shorter than Randy Weaver sawed off for his "friend", the federal snitch. So why aren’t the ATF and FBI raiding the offices of the IRS for desiring to possess firearms that are of an illegal length? The IRS crimes against the federal government are a full 239.75” more than Randy Weavers. Certainly Vicki, their son Samuel, their friend Kevin, their daughters, and their dog’s punishment for their husband/father/friend’s “crime” did not fit the punishment, and can not even be measured as they committed NO CRIMES, but still paid an awful price at the hands of the federal government. So I say again, why aren’t the ATF and FBI storming the offices of the IRS? Better yet, why aren’t you?
And what’s the relevancy in this, the 2010th year of our Lord? If you are being investigated by the IRS, and know about it, you'd better be prepared to defend you and your family's life from IRS ‘investigators’ carrying shotguns that have 14-inch barrels. Class IIIA or better bulletproof vests work well against anything a 12-gauge shotgun can throw at it. Class IV, though heavier, is better, unless of course they should shoot you in the face like they did Vicki Weaver. I also recommend you be prepared to shoot back by investing in such self-defense items necessary to protect you and yours, including bulletproofing your dog as that they seem to be popular targets for the feds these days. Call me; I’ll help you out with your preparations for a nominal charge.
Just as importantly, if you catch wind of an IRS investigator in your area, call the Sheriff immediately and demand the investigator be arrested on firearms charges for having in his or her possession a shotgun that falls four full inches shorter than the legal limit. Print out the purchase request I've linked as proof to your accusation.
These bastards took their gloves off way back. It's well past time you did the same.

PS: And one more item of note. If these shotguns are for defensive purposes, then why can a federal agent own a shotgun with a 14 barrel, and We the People can not? If self defense is the reason for the purchase, then obviously the federal government thinks shorter barrels lends itself better to self defense applications. So then the question must be asked, “Why is an agent of the federal government life more worthy of tools to defend than ours?” Of course a fed life is not more worthy of defending, which is why I suggested in a very strong manner that these guns are not for defensive purposes.
PSS: And the rest of the story: Lon Horiuchi was indicted for manslaughter by the State of Idaho's prosecutor, but the feds came in and moved the trial to federal court where all charges leveled against Lon were dismissed because of "federal sovereignty". Lon was highly trained. He shot Vicki Weaver, a nursing mother with her baby on her hip, with a high-power sniper rifle equipped with a high-power sniper scope. Through that scope, at that range, Vicki's face would have looked like she was standing right next to him, and he still pulled the trigger.
Lon was also involved in another Eric Holder debacle a year later known as the Federal Siege of the Branch Davidions in Waco, Texas. Does the name, Eric Holder, ring a bell? He is now serving as Obama's top law enforcement officer, the Attorney General of the United States Government.
During the Branch Davidions Siege, which was nothing more than the murder of 68 innocent men, women and children (to save the children, mind you), Eric Holder was serving as the deputy Attorney General of the United States for then Attorney General, Janet Reno, under the Clinton Administration. The FBI reported to, and took orders from ERIC HOLDER at that time.
This is the reason Holder has no problem lying the way he does. “Issues meant to distract” like "White people are scared to talk about race", and "we will bring back, and make more strict, the Clinton gun bans that expired in 2004, to thwart U.S. machineguns sales to the drug lords in Mexico" are only meant to strengthen the USG hold over We the People, and ensure no pesky member of the fourth estate has time, or the guts to look into, and then print anything about Holder’s past, just like we never were told about Holder’s bosses past.
Please read "The Federal Siege at Ruby Ridge", and "Send in the Waco Killers", and watch the documentary entitled, "Waco: The rules of engagement". All are excellent resources.
Randy and his surviving family members now live in Iowa, Randy's home state. The Iowa Militia was formed, not by Mr. Weaver, in response to the events now known as Ruby Ridge. Never heard of the Iowa Militia? Keep checking back to Uburlington.com…
